When I came out for the first time in real offline life, it was to my college friends. They were talking about how flamboyant some LGBT people are and they were getting kinda homophobic, so I got a bit angry and I just said, “Guys, but actually I’m gay…” When I realised what I just did, I started shaking, but they didn’t even care and they said that they understood not all of us were like that. I felt like I was freed from a really heavy weight. I still can’t believe it was that easy.

When I came out, it was to my stepbrother, who at the time was temporarily deaf. I asked him if we could walk over to Portillos to get dinner. He was pretty shocked, but still gave me a fist pump and got me a cake shake.

When I came out to my mother she told me she would always love me no matter what and that it’s my personal choice. Later the same day, she talked to me and convinced herself I couldn’t be gay and that it was all a joke because it was not accepted in her religion. Deep down I know that she knows it was true and that she has always known it and is just in denial. (20/Gay)
