When I came out… I waited until 11:45 so my best friend would not be online. Then wrote a paragraph saying I was gay that he didn’t read because the notification only had “good night” in it. This morning he said he “underestimated my irl stealth stat” and was really nice. (M/17/Gay)

When I came out to my dad it was over the phone, I told him that things were going on and that I needed to tell him something important. He asked what it was, and I said that I lost my job because of how I was living my life. He asked, “How are you different?” I said, “Well, Dad, I’m gay,” and he said, “I know, you’re still young to know how you are or even know who you are for sure.” He then went to tell me how he still loved me and we can figure things out. When I came out, it was to my girlfriend’s older brother (who was and is still one of my closest friends). Unlike my girlfriend, he’s very religious and attends church 3 times a week. When I told him I was gay, all he said was “Yeah, I thought so. I still love you and God still loves you, so everything’s cool.” And that was it.

When I came out to my brother, we were on vacation and we had stepped out to take a smoke break. We were standing there talking and we were talking about that topic. Then he asked me straight forward if I was gay, so I told him right away that I was, and we talked for like 2 hours after that. Then the next day gay marriage was made legal and my cousins instantly made fun of me (they didn’t know but made jokes) and my brother yelled at them and made them stop. When I came out to my teacher, it was just the best moment in my life. She had to guess what’s up and when she got it, I started crying and she hugged me immediately and told me that everything’s alright.
