When I came out to my mom, I was 17. She simply replied, “Tell me something I don’t know, sweetie. By the way, I’m making pizza tonight, what do you want on it?”
Story #349
When I came out to my parents (about 3 hours ago) they were shocked. My dad was kind of okay with it while my mom started crying and telling me that this is not normal and asked me what she did wrong. However I believe that from now on things can only get better!
Story #348
When I came out to my mom we were driving in the car on the freeway coming home from my grandparents. I started by asking her if she would love me no matter what. Then I took a deep breath and said, “I’m gay.” Immediately I started bawling my eyes out and my mother started to cry too. At first my mom thought that I was just confused but over time my mom came to accept me for who I am. That day years of built of shame and guilt came out and for once I was finally free.
Story #347
When I came out I was 16. I’d been having feelings for guys for a long time (and hiding it pretty well). I was never afraid of being bullied or judged, but I was absolutely terrified of my family finding out, because they were Christian. I decided to tell my friend so that I wouldn’t explode on my parents. She was very supportive and helped me fully accept who I was.
Story #346
When I came out I was scared that my mum would treat me differently. I already had a girlfriend and my mum knew her and got along and I was worried that would change if she knew who she really was. We were walking along the beach with the dogs and my girlfriend was trying to get me to build up the guts to tell her. My brother told me that all it takes is 20 seconds of extreme courage and you can do anything, so I did and she just said that she knew she was my girlfriend and said as long as I’m happy it’s okay with her.
Story #345
When I came out I made it very easy on myself and pretty much did it on facebook. It was a shock to everyone and I received phone calls, facebook messages, and texts from everyone that had me on facebook and my number. It wasn’t words of hate but words of encouragement and people congratulating me. They also informed me that they always knew I was gay and would always love me. Now I am in an amazing relationship with my girlfriend Sara and we just bought a house.

When I came out, my dad looked at me and said… “Alright then… have fun!”

When I came out to one of my good friends I sent him a text saying dude I need to tell you something but plz don’t tell any one and I texted saying I’m gay and I drove for 15 mins not reading the text and he said dude that’s cool with me I’m hip. I was so glad he’s cool with it.
Story #342
When I came out, I didn’t expect my family’s acceptance. They’re strict Christians and their constant denial and crude remarks will go away when I graduate. As for now, I don’t know where life will take me after telling them. I just hope and pray that everyday things will get better.
