Story #702

When I came out, it turned out I was too good of an actress. Both parents didn’t believe that I wasn’t a man at the time. My dad still doesn’t, almost four years later.

Story #701

When I came out, I told my parents first. I felt like they needed to know. Ever since then, I always hang out with my dad because my mom wasn’t too happy with me. I eventually just gave up on her and stayed with my dad. Now we drink, check out girls, and party together.

Story #700

When I came out to my best friend, she thought that I had a crush on her and that was the only reason that I became friends with her. That was partly true, but I didn’t start crushing on her until after we became best friends. She stopped talking to me, and told the entire school that I am lesbian. I played it out like Janis Ian from Mean Girls. I said, “That’s right!!!! I’ve got a BIG lesbian crush on you!!! Suck on that!!!” I then screamed, “AYAYAYAYAYAYA” while running down the hallways. I got a detention, but it was well worth it. Thank you, Mean Girls.

Story #698

When I came out, I was sitting at the table eating dinner with my housemate. He was asking about who I was messaging for the past couple weeks, messages I didn’t allow him to read. Jokingly, he asked, “Is it a boy or girl?” so I said: It’s a boy. He was shocked and asked: Wait, for real? Are you kidding? So I said no, I’m serious. Then he said: Okay, I didn’t expect that, it’s brave of you coming out, I’m totally okay with it.

Story #697

When I came out I told my best friend first. She was perfectly okay and told me she already knew. Almost a year later, I came out to my parents who both said they’d known for about 9 months. They were incredibly supportive and now my dad and I get to look at girls together.

Story #696

When I came out, I was a little drunk, which most would think is not a good idea. My roommate and I had just come back to our dorm from the club, and after a few minutes of drunk chit-chat, I point blank said, “Bro, you know I’m gay, right?” He shrugged his shoulders and nodded and then told me that regardless, he was still my best friend and that nothing would ever change the way that he felt. I had spent nearly two years agonizing as to how I was gonna tell him, and just hearing him say those few sentences not only made me realize that he was probably the best friend I would ever have, but that no matter what anyone else says or feels about it, this is who I am. If just one person understands, it makes telling everyone else that much easier.

Story #699

When I came out, my boyfriend encouraged me to. When he came out to me he told me that he had a huge crush on me. I agreed to go out with him as long as he wouldn’t tell anyone that I am gay. I came out to my family and friends, and they were so supportive of me. I even told them about my boyfriend. I asked them, “What did you think I was doing with him?” They said, “Oh honey, we have known that you are gay for a long time.”

Story #694

When I came out to my best friend, she was KIND OF against gay people, and when I told her I was bi, she immediately thought I liked her, as did my other friends who were girls. *sigh* I had a girlfriend at the time…
