Story #1449

When I came out for the first time in real offline life, it was to my college friends. They were talking about how flamboyant some LGBT people are and they were getting kinda homophobic, so I got a bit angry and I just said, “Guys, but actually I’m gay…” When I realised what I just did, I started shaking, but they didn’t even care and they said that they understood not all of us were like that. I felt like I was freed from a really heavy weight. I still can’t believe it was that easy.

Story #1446

When I came out to 3 of my closest friends, I had tried to all lunch break but we were always surrounded by other people so I took two of them apart, along with two friends that already knew, and I just blurted out: “Guys, I’m not straight.” They were super chill with it and we discussed it very casually. I told the other friend when she joined us and she got super excited and came out as bi to me, and told me she knew at least 5 other LGBT people at our school. My week got gayer and gayer after that. (F/16)

Story #1448

When I came out I said, “O SKIP I LIKE BOYS” and then went on with my day and haven’t told anybody but it’s good that I came out to myself 🙂

Story #1445

When I came out to my friends I just casually mentioned it. However, my best friend casually mentioned that he was gay and the boy who had a crush on me found out why he never had a chance. Everybody took it very well and now we are just a bunch of queer best friends and I have never been happier.

Story #1447

When I came out it was to my cousin, she was okay with it even though we’re both Muslims, and when I came out to a friend she just stopped talking to me, but it’s all good. I’m glad I did it. (Deejay, 17/Pansexual/asexual)

Story #1444

When I came out it didn’t go so well. I was with a girl at the time and wanted to break things off. Then my parents knew something was up and read my phone. And I lied but it was way too obvious. My dad stopped talking to me and my whole family looks and reacts to me being gay as a disgusting, abnormal thing. (F/15/Gay)

Story #1443

When I came out to my best friend she was super happy for me and told me that she was also figuring out her sexuality. I texted her that I wanted to tell her something that’s been on my mind for a few weeks and I was like, “so like I’m bi!” and she responded, “OMG YAY IM SO HAPPY YOU TOLD ME IM SO PROUD OF YOU”. Best moment of my life, since she’s my best friend ever. (F/15/Bi)

Story #1442

When I came out, it was to my stepbrother, who at the time was temporarily deaf. I asked him if we could walk over to Portillos to get dinner. After a little bit of small talk over our food, I told him that I had to tell him something important. I stalled for another 5-10 minutes before signing “I’M G-A-Y” under the table. He was pretty shocked, but still gave me a fist pump and got me a cake shake.

Story #1441

When I came out to my mother she made me feel very uncomfortable about it, asking personal questions about my sex life and insisting I was going through a phase. Meanwhile I was openly bi at school, flirting with both sexes, and during a talk with my friends I had discovered that one of them hadn’t caught on. So my other friend and I simply explained it to her and both are extremely accepting while mum still insists it’s a phase.

Story #1439

When I came out was yesterday at a party. I had come out to my close friends, but that’s all. Yesterday we were at a party and I was really, really drunk and when I saw the girl I like I yelled, “I want to f*ck you!” Then people started asking me if I was a lesbian and I just said yes.
