Pansexual Coming Out Stories

When I came out to my mom, I left a letter on her bed right before I left for my dad’s house. She read it and sent me a text the next day saying that she loved me no matter what. She was very hurt that I didn’t tell her earlier, but she was very accepting of who I am. I’m so glad I decided to come out! (F/Pansexual)

When I came out it was to a girl I had just meet. We were avoiding having to do any actual exercise at P.E and I just blurted it out. It felt so good to get that off my chest and she gave me so much support. Telling some of my closer friends and mother was different, but I am so glad about the love I got from the real friends in my life. When I came out to my dad last night, he basically told me it was a phase and that I didn’t know what I was talking about. This morning he said, “Sometimes gay women forget that they’re female, and they wear men’s clothing and cut their hair short. Gay men sometimes are too gay and they are hard to be around. Don’t forget that you’re a girl. ” and I am a feminist, and I nodded and said I understood like the feminine person he thought I was. I was on my period. When I got to school I started to cry. I hated myself for lying to everyone. I hated my dad. But now I’m trying to move past him. Today I plan to become open and show him that his pansexual daughter doesn’t care about how he sees me. When I came out it was totally by accident. I hadn’t even admitted it to myself and had been losing sleep over it. Then my friend was like, “I think I’m the only gay one at my school” and it just popped out. Now I’ve come out to a few friends and last night I came out to my mom. She was awesome and apparently half of my Catholic Irish family is lesbian (yay). Now I need to tell my dad and I will try to tell my class. My dad’s side is extremely conservative but I think my dad will be good. (F/12/Pansexual)

When I came out I was at a restaurant and was waiting for my food with my parents. I decided to come out a bit early. Keep in mind that I had tried to come out to my dad before but didn’t have the courage to, and I grew up in a straight environment. So I grabbed a piece of paper and drew my pride flag. I had my dad and stepmom guess the flag. So I think they got the hint. (F/12/Pansexual)

When I came out I told my non-binary friend and asked for advice on how to tell my family. They were so supportive and I felt like someone understood me. Tonight I told my sister, but my mom walked in on us hugging and wanted to know what was wrong. I hesitantly told her with fear that she wouldn’t understand, but she was so accepting. We all hugged and cried and now I finally feel free after months of anxiety. (F/Pansexual)

When I came out to my best friend, I said I was pansexual and she said, “Yeah lol me too welcome to the club” and then like 3 days later this guy comes up to us and says, “Hey so like you’re both les or something, are you guys dating?” and we looked at each other and were like, “No, we’re just friends” and then the dude that asked us said, “With BENEFITS” and f*ckin sprinted away.
