Story #2192

When I came out to my sister two months ago, she kind of just shrugged it off at first. She then squealed and hugged me saying that she already knew and kind of guessed it. She’s had my back since then and I’m lucky to have her! She’s 11 now and loves drawing Pride art for me. (F/13/Lesbian)

Story #2179

When I came out I knew my parents would accept me. So I just told them about how my friend assumed I liked her, and when my parents asked why I told them I liked girls. My mom said it didn’t matter and just told me I was too young for a relationship. It went really well. (F/11/Lesbian/gay)

Story #2175

When I came out as lesbian I told my best friend first and then she told me she was bi. So I told my family and close friends and they were all super supportive! I recently told my whole class and 4 more people came out to me. I am fully embracing myself and who I am and excited to keep sharing who I am with people! (F/13/Lesbian)

Story #2172

When I came out I felt awkward. I had previously come out as asexual, only to realize I’m an aromantic lesbian. My mum guessed it, but I still feel like she doesn’t accept me. (F/14)

Story #2168

When I came out was very strange because I came out to my sister and I was very scared. She said, “That’s alright,” and I was like, “Wow.” She doesn’t like me that much, but she was very nice this time. I am from Poland and we have a very homophobic country and government. So now I am very happy with who I am, but sometimes is difficult. Wish me luck! ( : (F/14/Lesbian)

Story #2164

When I came out my aunt threatened to send me to a conversion camp. My mom acted as if she supported me but something was always off about her reaction; she ended up telling the whole family, which wasn’t her responsibility. My dad heard it from my mum and tried to get me drunk so I would tell him myself; either way he wasn’t supportive. When I came out to my friends they all walked away; I was alone again. But ended up meeting my now girlfriend who loves and supports me no matter who I am. Trust me; things will get better 💖 (Non-binary/14/Lesbian)

Story #2159

When I came out I was with my sister and we were arguing because she took away my video games and told me to do my chores and I got mad… We got angry to the point when we physically fought. After that, I told her to get out of my room. I locked my room door and started crying. She then proceeded to lock-pick my door and she asked me what was wrong and I continuously told her nothing. I screamed “I’m gay!” at her and I started sobbing ( I was in the closet for 4 years) and she ran up to me and held me for minutes until I stopped crying. (F/13/Gay/lesbian)

Story #2157

When I came out it was at a Christmas party with friends in August. As it happens at every house party with my friends and me, we ended up in the kitchen and got emotional and sentimental. One of my friends suddenly asked me if she could ask me one question and I agreed. The question was: Boys or girls? I said, “Girls,” and nobody was surprised and everything was fine. The only thing they wanted to know was if I was dating someone at the moment. (Non-binary/21/Lesbian)

Story #2154

When I came out to my new class, they were like ‘cool’ and that was the end of it. Later that day I came out to my old schoolfriends, and they were all really supportive and helped me through the times my mum was being homophobic. I’ve come out to my Dad and stepmother, and they were fine with it. I’ve yet to come out to my Mum, but for now I want to see her point of view on lgbtq+ stuff. I have come out to two people about my gender. (Bigender/12/Lesbian)

Story #2151

When I came out to my best friend, it was actually the second time. I had already come out as bi, but I recently realised I’m a lesbian. I told her I’m not attracted to boys at all and she asked if I was gay. I said yes and she gave me a high five. I hope the rest of my friends react the same way. (F/18/Lesbian)
