Story #1931

When I came out it was to my best friend who is bi. I told her I thought I was bi too, and she has helped me accept myself and she’s who I come to about all my girl crushes. I’m thinking of coming out to my other friends soon and eventually my parents but it may take a while to get there. (F/15/Bisexual)

Story #1929

When I came out it was a few days until homecoming, and my mom asked if I was going to the dance with anyone, and I said probably not. She then said, “Well, any guy would be lucky to bring you,” and then she said, “Or girl.” I shrugged, and she said, “Do you have a preference?” I said, “I don’t really care.” I don’t know if she understands that I’m Bi. (F/16/Bisexual)

Story #1928

When I came out it was to my sister, and I didn’t plan it at all. She just mentioned to me that she was bi, so I told her I was lesbian. I’m glad to say that she was very accepting. I’ve told two close friends since then, and they’ve been accepting as well. However, I have no intentions of telling my homophobic parents until I’m at least out of the house (sorry, Mom, no conversion therapy for me). (F/15/Lesbian)

Story #1927

When I came out I was 12 and it was just to my friends as Ace (no longer identify with this) and then changed it about 6 months later. Now I’m either Bi or Queer. Labels are hard to find. My friends completely accepted me (mostly because the majority of my group of friends are queer one way or another) and I am so grateful for my experience. Both my parents I think have just kind of figured it out now so lol ok. (F/13)

Story #1926

When I came out I told my mom over text, before telling my best friend and crush. Soon after, my crush (now girlfriend) kissed me at a sleepover, so now we’re dating 🙂 (F/13/Queer)

Story #1925

When I came out as bi to my mum she seemed super supportive at the start until she realised what I was telling her, then she ignored me and I ruined the remainder of our relationship from it, but 1 year before that, when I told my aunt, she was amazing but wanted me never to tell my grandma so I keep a good relationship with her and can stay part of the family. (F/14/Bi)

Story #1923

When I came out earlier this year, I told one of my friends through passing notes in class and it kinda went downhill when someone overheard me talking to her about it and outed me to my whole class. (I go to a small Catholic school idk why bc I’m not Catholic.) Most of my friends are Catholic and I couldn’t be more shocked with how accepting they’ve been. (F/15/Lesbian)

Story #1918

When I came out I had my friend up for a sleepover and after a while I said, “Let’s go explore in the woods,” so we went in and I was like, “I need to tell you something,” and she said, “What?” I just flat out said, “I’m Bi.” She was so nice and accepting and she told me she was Bi too. (F/12/Bisexual)

Story #1912

When I came out, my friend said she didn’t think I was actually asexual. She said I was too young to know, and I might not have just had sexual attraction yet. That really hurt me, and I had and still have anxiety and self-doubt about my identity. My other two friends who were there accepted me, but I’m scared to come out to anyone again. (F/14/Asexual/panromantic)

Story #1911

When I came out I did it through a spoken word poem that I presented to my classmates. It was a nerve-wracking experience but everybody congratulated me and said they really loved it. (F)
