When I came out, I came out to my BFF in 6th grade (last year) at an after-school party as bisexual. She was very supportive, in fact we’re even closer now. Now I drift between bisexual and pansexual; I’m also questioning my gender identity. I plan to come out to my other friends next week. When I came out, I was living with my cousin. I asked him what if I was bi. He said wouldn’t care and then said, “If you’re bi just say you’re bi.” I laughed and said I was bi. He hugged me and I cried. It was such a big relief. (M/16/Bisexual)

When it came to me, I passed it to the guy next to me and we were practically kissing except there was a paper between. He accidentally dropped the paper and we ended up kissing. I just yelled out, “Hey guys, I have 83 protons!” (on the periodic table it’s bismuth or bi) and everyone kinda looked at me strange, then one kid goes, “She’s BI” and I just winked while everyone kinda stared at me. When I came out, my parents were really, really surprised. My mom implied she thought it was a phase, and later my dad referred to as the time that I said I “thought” I might be bi. This surprised me a little because my parents are very progressive. After a little while, though, they seem to have become more comfortable with it and don’t treat me any differently. Since then, I have come out to a number of friends, all of whom have been incredibly kind and supportive, and for that, I am so, so thankful.

When I came out, it was a year ago and I was cutting class with my friend. We were sitting on top of a hill in the middle of nowhere. Naturally the conversation got deep and he told me his darkest secret, so I told him I was bi. That year he inspired me to come out to all my friends and everyone’s been supportive.
