When I came out I was at a party that happened a week ago on Friday night. Around midnight, we got bored and played “suck and blow,” where you must suck paper and blow it to the next person. When it came to me, I passed it to the guy next to me and we were practically kissing except there was a paper between. He accidentally dropped the paper and we ended up kissing. Right after, I said, “Yeah, I like guys too.” (M/17/Bi)

I just yelled out, “Hey guys, I have 83 protons!” (on the periodic table it’s bismuth or bi) and everyone kinda looked at me strange, then one kid goes, “She’s BI” and I just winked while everyone kinda stared at me. When I came out, my parents were really, really surprised. My mom implied she thought it was a phase, and later my dad referred to as the time that I said I “thought” I might be bi. This surprised me a little because my parents are very progressive. After a little while, though, they seem to have become more comfortable with it and don’t treat me any differently. Since then, I have come out to a number of friends, all of whom have been incredibly kind and supportive, and for that, I am so, so thankful.
