Story #1714

When I came out, we were playing truth or dare at lunch and one girl asked me who I liked. I liked a girl, and I was very hesitant to tell her because we weren’t very close and I was afraid she’d have a negative reaction. Eventually, I told her that it wasn’t a guy. She replied with, “Awww, that’s sweet.” She was really supportive about it, and promised not to tell anyone. (F/13/Bi)

Story #1712

When I came out it was to all of my friends first at the school I am currently going to, and all of them were OK with it. But there was one problem: One of them was threatening to tell my parents because she didn’t understand the possible dangers to coming out. At the end of the year I switched schools before she could out me. Getting to my new school was fun because I found other old friends who also had “unusual” identities or sexualities and there is even a gay straight alliance club aka GSA. Story #1711

When I came out it was not planned. But one night at a party a good friend of mine came to me and wanted to speak with me about something. The reason was that she thought that I had flirted with her boyfriend too much at the last parties we were together. I started laughing and told her that it was just because we were really good friends and she can be sure that it will not happen any time in the future that I am flirting with any boyfriend because I love girls. Story #1710

When I came out it was not by choice. My mom had stumbled across the messages me and my girlfriend had been sending each other. She read them all and then looked at me. She asked, “Why do you guys say I love you so much to each other?”
My response was “Because maybe I like girls and not guys.” (F/14/Lesbian)

Story #1709

When I came out I felt so relieved. I’ve finally found what’s in me and I am so happy. Took years to figured out what’s wrong with myself during all those relationships I was in and here I am, a graysexual. (F/22/Graysexual)

Story #1708

When I came out to my girlfriend as non- binary, I was terrified. At that point, we had been dating for two years (three now) and I felt like I was betraying my best friend by keeping it from her. I wrote her a loooong letter and made her read it in front of me. After she was done she gave me the biggest hug and admitted that she had already suspected something was up with my gender and that she loved me regardless. She even told me that she had stopped referring to me as her girlfriend weeks before I came out to her. I’m so grateful and lucky to have such an amazing S/O. (NB/22/Queer)

Story #1707

When I came out, it was sort of by mistake. My friends were talking about some movie, and my friend told me, “From one asexual to another, don’t watch that movie because there’s a huge sex scene.” I responded that I wasn’t ace, and she seemed really surprised. I couldn’t shake the encounter, though, and at lunch the next day, I looked up different types of attraction and realized that I really didn’t experience any sexual attraction, prompting me to come out to everyone right then and there. They were all so accepting, and they’ve continued to be as my label has gradually changed and evolved into how I identify today. (Agender/15/Aro Ace)

Story #1706

When I came out, I came out first to my best friend as bi last spring. This year she kissed some girl at homecoming and I asked her about and she told me she was bi too. I’m finally starting to feel comfortable being me. I haven’t officially come out to my parents but they are super accepting. (F/15/Bisexual)

Story #1705

When I came out, it was because I had a super obvious crush on my best friend.
Basically, my mom asked me if I had a crush on her, I said yes, done.
She knows I’ve had guy crushes too.
So, yeah.

Story #1704

When I came out was when I got together with my boyfriend. We had been flirting earlier in the day and became a thing over text. That night, my dad saw our texts and figured out everything and forced me to out myself to my mom. I came out to my friends at lunch the next day when he visited me while skipping out on his class. My friends have been nothing but fun and supportive and I am so happy that I have them. (M/14/Gay)
