Story #1929

When I came out it was a few days until homecoming, and my mom asked if I was going to the dance with anyone, and I said probably not. She then said, “Well, any guy would be lucky to bring you,” and then she said, “Or girl.” I shrugged, and she said, “Do you have a preference?” I said, “I don’t really care.” I don’t know if she understands that I’m Bi. (F/16/Bisexual)

Story #1928

When I came out it was to my sister, and I didn’t plan it at all. She just mentioned to me that she was bi, so I told her I was lesbian. I’m glad to say that she was very accepting. I’ve told two close friends since then, and they’ve been accepting as well. However, I have no intentions of telling my homophobic parents until I’m at least out of the house (sorry, Mom, no conversion therapy for me). (F/15/Lesbian)

Story #1927

When I came out I was 12 and it was just to my friends as Ace (no longer identify with this) and then changed it about 6 months later. Now I’m either Bi or Queer. Labels are hard to find. My friends completely accepted me (mostly because the majority of my group of friends are queer one way or another) and I am so grateful for my experience. Both my parents I think have just kind of figured it out now so lol ok. (F/13)

Story #1926

When I came out I told my mom over text, before telling my best friend and crush. Soon after, my crush (now girlfriend) kissed me at a sleepover, so now we’re dating 🙂 (F/13/Queer)

Story #1925

When I came out as bi to my mum she seemed super supportive at the start until she realised what I was telling her, then she ignored me and I ruined the remainder of our relationship from it, but 1 year before that, when I told my aunt, she was amazing but wanted me never to tell my grandma so I keep a good relationship with her and can stay part of the family. (F/14/Bi)

Story #1924

When I came out, the first thing I came out as was gay. I was having my friend guess who my crush was, and eventually, I said, “What would you say if it was a girl?” She just said, “Cool” and that gave me the courage to later come out to other friends. Eventually, I got a girlfriend and she helped me come out to the rest of my friends and I also helped her come out to hers. I then realized that I wanted to come out to some of my friends as non-binary, so I sent them an email and they were super accepting and friendly! (Non-binary/Queer)

Story #1923

When I came out earlier this year, I told one of my friends through passing notes in class and it kinda went downhill when someone overheard me talking to her about it and outed me to my whole class. (I go to a small Catholic school idk why bc I’m not Catholic.) Most of my friends are Catholic and I couldn’t be more shocked with how accepting they’ve been. (F/15/Lesbian)

Story #1922

When I came out, I discovered that there is more than one stage to coming out. After coming out to friends and family, I learned that the final stage is coming out to gay people. So I attended a gay party where everyone had to get naked together. And once I was nude with the group, I felt warm, excited, and comfortable, and I knew that I was truly out at last. (M/67/Gay)

Story #1921

When I came out to my sister it was completely accidental. Last night she was scrolling through my reddit profile and found a post I submitted to r/lgbt that said I was gay. She came over to me, showed it to me (I died a little on the inside), and patted me on the head. When we took out the dog today we had a chat about it and she said she loved me and swore she wouldn’t tell anyone. I love my twin sis❤️ . Next up are my parents and school. (M/15/Gay)

Story #1920

When I came out, I told my oldest brother when we were drunk that I’m bisexual. I didn’t think he remembered till the next day. After he started dropping hints about how hot certain guys and girls are to me I caught on that he knows… He is super straight. After, he told me, “I don’t give a f*ck and I’ll protect you no matter what.”

Then did life become a bit more safer. (29/Bisexual)
