When I Came Out

When I came out I told my best friend I had something important to say! He then told me something about himself to make me more comfortable as I was a ball of nerves. Then I told him that I’m bi! He says he loves me and it makes me proud to have a friend like him.

When I came out, I was 13. Everyone was very accepting. I wrote my mom a letter and she called me saying she doesn’t care as long as I’m happy. That’s what my whole family said. All of my friends accepted me too. Coming out was the best decision I ever made.

When I came out to my friend, she said that she liked girls too. I told her that I liked her and she said she liked me too. We’ve been dating for 3 months now.

When I came out, the police were coming to confiscate my computer because a girl close to my family claimed I had been secretly filming her for my own pleasure. One check through my history cleared everything up pretty quick.

When I came out I was already out to one of my best friends. Me and my other best friend always were the first two into school in the mornings, so I got a packet of Skittles (her favourite sweet) and wrote “I’m bi :)” on the table. She looked up, read it, smiled and ate one of the Skittles! It was the most interestig way I’ve ever come out before.

When I came out to one of my old junior high teachers and begged her not to tell anyone, she gave me a hug and told me that my sexuality doesn’t change the way she sees me. She’s the first adult I came out to and I’m really glad I did.

When I came out it actually happened as a drunk hookup with a gay friend of mine. Within my circle of friends word travels quick, and everyone didn’t care and accepted me with open arms. A year later, I told my family at my high school graduation party (heavily intoxicated) that I liked boys. My brother has no problem with it, but my mom and dad told me that they love me unconditionally, but they needed time to adjust and get used to it. Now I just feel like the black sheep. Hopefully this will pass.

When I came out to my two best friends, one of them was upset and the other one smug. I asked why, and my smug friend said that he bet I would come out his year while my other friend was banking on next year. Not quite the reaction I was anticipating, but they are awesome and really accepting. Thanks, guys.

When I came out it was to my close guy friend, just a minute ago. When I told him indirectly, he didn’t say anything, so I asked why and if his opinion of me changed. He said, “No, you’re still my friend, why should it?” Best reaction ever 😀

When I came out to my deeply religious parents, they hugged me for what felt like forever. I asked my mom if they had an issue with my sexuality, but they said, “No, God is love.”
