When I came out to my friend over text, I just said that I was really crushing on this one boy from our school. She didn’t hesitate at all to reply that she thought it was adorable, and that’s why I’m so glad to have friends like her in my life.
Story #615
When I came out, I was out with my friend after happy hour with other people. She knew I had been depressed all summer, but didn’t know why. I then just blurted out “I’m gay. I’ve always known deep down, and I’m 24 and tired of not being who I am.” She responded, “I always knew there was something different about you, but know that this changes nothing between us and I’m here for you.” I don’t think it could have gone better!
Story #617
When I came out my parents went absolutely ballistic. They couldn’t understand it especially since we come from a religious family. They wouldn’t talk to me about it at all and my mom always looked like she was going to throw up whenever I’d bring it up. After a few months I met a beautiful girl who stole my heart within days and now she’s all that matters to me. I don’t care what anyone thinks, just her.
Story #614
When I came out to my parents they seemed to have known it since I was 10. Religious views have made all the acceptance process harder. Even though up to this moment I haven’t heard sincere words I can say it is much better being out. Not every family will comprehend it but life goes on and happiness has nothing to do with anyone but oneself.
Story #613
When I came out my conservative parents were surprisingly supportive and told me they always knew I was gay… I was extremely scared and the words “I am gay” took ten minutes to come out (pun intended).
Story #612
When I came out, I was 19 and had failed two of my college subjects. I felt like a failure, so my best friend called me from overseas. She promised she’d loved me even with all my failures, so then I told her my biggest failure is being gay. She admitted she suspected it since we met, and she’d be glad to stand by my side no matter what.
Now, I thought being gay is the best thing in this world.
Story #611
When I came out to my friend in a text, she didn’t respond. I got scared and kept texting her, then started crying and called her. She said she didn’t see the text and she apologized. She then told me she already knew I was and that she was bi. I’ve been in love with her for two years.
Story #610
When I came out I had to explain why my divorce was pending. It wasn’t because I was separated for 4 years, because she didn’t like sex or because I did everything. It was because I was gay. My cousin said, “It’s ok, you’re still my cuz.” Now I just say it if it comes to me… worry no longer.
Story #609
When I came out (today) to my mother, I was scared. The words “I am gay” never seemed to surface. So instead, I just told her that I wasn’t attracted to females. Surprisingly, she took it well. She told me how she doesn’t understand it (religious views) but she would never stop loving me. I just hope it gets better from here.
Story #608
When I told my mum I was gay and wanted to wear girls clothes and have long purple hair, she was very supportive. I told my dad and he said, “I know and I’m proud to have you as a son and I love you more than anything.” That’s a day I will never forget. Love you mum and dad 🙂
