When I came out as asexual, surprisingly, my family was really supportive. Unfortunately, my best friend just thought it was a phase and that was really disappointing.
Story #1673
When I came out to my best friend it was online, and he said, “I love you no matter your sexuality.” Clearly he is really my best friend.
Story #1672
When I came out to my best friend as bi about 2 months ago, she came out to me as bisexual as well. I now have another friend who is bi as well. I am out to my entire grade but only 2 people in my family. (M/12/Bi)
Story #1671
When I came out to my friends my life changed. They accepted me fully and I feel like a huge stone was removed from my chest, like I can finally breathe. I’m planning on telling my parents next. Wish me luck! (F/12/Pansexual)
Story #1670
When I came out, I decided to call my mom and dad individually. My mom and dad were surprised. My dad seemed immediately to say, “You are my daughter and I have you in my heart.” My mom was more negative about it, but both of my parents told me that they loved me. Perhaps they will adjust more in time.
Story #1669
When I came out, it was to my three friends, one straight, one bi, and one pan and gender fluid. They are super supportive of me being bi and I plan on telling my family before the end of 2018! (F/11/Bi)
Story #1668
When I came out, it was to a guy I’d been texting for a while. I’d told him I was bi and he was cool with it. A couple months later I read this article about sexualities and genders. I realized there was something else that represented me better. And I also learned the difference between romantically and sexually attracted. (16/Panromantic demisexual)
Story #1667
When I came out, my parents were really, really surprised. My mom implied she thought it was a phase, and later my dad referred to as the time that I said I “thought” I might be bi. This surprised me a little because my parents are very progressive. After a little while, though, they seem to have become more comfortable with it and don’t treat me any differently. Since then, I have come out to a number of friends, all of whom have been incredibly kind and supportive, and for that, I am so, so thankful.
Story #1666
When I came out, it was a year ago and I was cutting class with my friend. We were sitting on top of a hill in the middle of nowhere. Naturally the conversation got deep and he told me his darkest secret, so I told him I was bi. That year he inspired me to come out to all my friends and everyone’s been supportive. I still haven’t told my parents.
Story #1665
When I came out, it was at first to my very religious friend. She was actually very supportive, and she gave me the courage to tell some of my other friends. However, I also told my parents, and they were not happy. They made me break up with my boyfriend and told me not to tell anyone else, and I have since received restricted freedom. I have less than a year till I move to a university, though, so I will get to be myself soon. (M/17/Gay)
