When I came out, I was in a serious straight relationship for 6 years. I had hidden, fooled myself, and created a false identity, which I had to face right after my mother’s suicide attempt. Coming out in a relationship and for my Christian and Serbian family is by far the most difficult that I have done in life. I was very surprised that the majority of the people in my social network accepted me for who I am and not my sexuality.
