When I came out to my crush in high school (who had already come out) because I wanted to be his boyfriend, he said he did not want to date me. It’s been six years and I still think about him. I risked everything by coming out to someone who didn’t care for me. Luckily my friends support me always! (M/19/Gay)
Story #1526
When I came out… I waited until 11:45 so my best friend would not be online. Then wrote a paragraph saying I was gay that he didn’t read because the notification only had “good night” in it. This morning he said he “underestimated my irl stealth stat” and was really nice. (M/17/Gay)

When I came out to my mom 4 days ago, well… she made me do it. She straight asked me if I was gay. After several “facts” about me and my queer friends, I decided to not to say yes, just saying stuff like, “If I have a gay/trans/bi son I will accept him.” She told me that I am a deception. It didn’t bother me at all, but she still talks to me now. She still wants to have the conversation. I’m too afraid. (M/22, Panamá)

When I came out to my brother a few months ago, we were so drunk at a club. I was dancing with a guy. He asked me if I was bisexual, and I told him, “Uh, yeah.” We went home and he cried because I didn’t tell him before. Also he said that he will never accept me as gay. I really don’t care. When I came out to my two best friends they were super accepting and just carried on completely normal. They support me fully and are helping me coming out to my parents and others. No regrets! (M/13/Bisexual)
Story #1509
When I came out to my dad it was over the phone, I told him that things were going on and that I needed to tell him something important. He asked what it was, and I said that I lost my job because of how I was living my life. He asked, “How are you different?” I said, “Well, Dad, I’m gay,” and he said, “I know, you’re still young to know how you are or even know who you are for sure.” He then went to tell me how he still loved me and we can figure things out. (That was about a year and a half ago.) Things have never been better! (M/19/Gay)
Story #1499
When I came out to my brother, we were on vacation and we had stepped out to take a smoke break. We were standing there talking and we were talking about that topic. Then he asked me straight forward if I was gay, so I told him right away that I was, and we talked for like 2 hours after that. Then the next day gay marriage was made legal and my cousins instantly made fun of me (they didn’t know but made jokes) and my brother yelled at them and made them stop. Ever since he and I have become so close, and he has even told me that he’s gay and is in a relationship! (M/19/Gay)
Story #1497
When I came out to my mom she caught me broadcasting a coming out video for people and then she yelled at me, and told me that I was a sin. She has loved me since but still doesn’t support me. My dad said, “Okay, you’re still young” but has accepted me and loved me ever since. My siblings have all known and when I told one of my brothers he said, “Okay, me too…” (M/19/Gay)

When I came out two years ago, I couldn’t hide how I felt anymore and decided to come out to everyone I know. Nobody complained and gave their blessings. I’m finally liberated. (M/29/Bisexual)
Story #1494
When I came out my originally homophobic friend said, “Well, you’re my friend, I should read up on things about this.” She now accepts me and always will love me. (M/13/Gay)
