Story #1483

When I came out, it was to my best friend after she told me that she had a crush on me. She said that she was happy for me and has been nothing but supportive ever since. A week later, I came out to two other female friends. I live in the Caribbean and our society (as well as my family) is conservative, religious, and highly homophobic so I’m not in a hurry to come out publicly. One day, I’ll tell my parents and maybe my extended family. (M/17/Gay)

Story #1429

When I came out for the first time it was to my best friend (she is a girl and I’m a boy). Since I had already tried so many times, I told her by text I needed to talk about a secret so she went mad and the day after she came at my house. Before I could even speak she told me, “I have thought about this for long and I’m afraid that you are going to tell me you are gay. Is it true?” I said yes and that I had wanted to tell her for long. She started to laugh, then turned angry and told me, “Why have you waited for so long? I’ve always wanted a gay best friend!!”

Story #1410

When I came out I told one of my best friends. I knew I had to tell someone, and she had been so supportive in the past. I was originally scared to tell her, but when I finally did she was super chill with it. (M/13/Bi)

Story #1409

When I came out to my mother, I was 15. I had a boyfriend and I really wanted to go to a party with him since he invited me, but it was in another town so I told her that I was going with my “partner.” She was okay with that. Later she found out I went out with a boy, and it was like, okay, your life, but I love you … S.A.V.
