When I came out I was leaving acting practice. My best friend and I were talking about boys, and she asked me if I was gay. I told her no, but I said I wasn’t straight either. I told her I was bisexual, and now we are closer then ever. (M/12/Bisexual)

When I came out my life changed. It’s been just about six weeks after my boyfriend and I got to know each other when my dad felt he had to talk to me about this “new friend.” Since he is homophobic, it got worse by the time so I had to leave home by calling the police (my dad wouldn’t let me pack my clothes and stuff) and move out: to a friend’s family, then to my boyfriend and now (after 8 months) I’m gonna go to university in my own apartment and live my life without regretting anything.

When I came out in February, I wasn’t sure how my friend that I haven’t see for a long time would react. I told him that I wanted to share and he was fine that I could tell him. I told him that I was bi and he was really happy that I came out and supported me. I thanked him for his support and he told me that he was proud that I had the courage to come out. (M/18/Bi)

When I came out as gay, I made 10 years of friendship with my best friend and I really wanted to tell her this “secret” for years face to face. We were like spending the all afternoon together but the time to tell her never came, and then the afternoon ended and she and I went home. Then after crying a lot alone at home I sent her a message coming out in a Direct Message. She supported me and then I told all of my closest women friends. A movie that motivated me a lot was Call Me by Your Name. (M/19/Gay)

When I came out to my parents was actually the second time. I wrote a letter to my mom when I was moving out of the house so I didn’t have to deal with it. A day later, she texted me with “I know, I love you.” It turns out that I told her I was bi when I was little, when she asked me, “What cartoon do you have a crush on?” and I pointed at Jasmine and said I also liked Aladdin. Still have to mail my letter to my dad far away, wonder how he’ll react. 🙂 (M/Bi)

When I came out, it was online. They (and watching Love, Simon by myself, twice) then gave me courage to come out to a sorta-close friend who was also gay. A few months after that, I came out to my best friend and just recently he came out to me as bi. (M/17/Gay)
Story #1635
When I came out today, I came out to my brother as gay! I did it after we were done at the cinema. I was so scared. But I just said, “I am gay” in the car on our way home. He is moving away on Sunday, so I felt like I had to. He is so supportive, and I can finally breathe out a little. My mom and dad next! (M/17)
Story #1633
When I came out was a mistake. My parents were out of town for the weekend and my siblings moved out of our home. My parents allowed me to have friends over, just not any girls, which was perfect. I invited my secret boyfriend over and he was supposed to leave the house before night but we were both so tired and so we slept on my bed. I woke up to my parents screaming and they kicked him out. Yeah, here I am a few days later writing this and not knowing what to do next. (M/18/Gay)
Story #1631
When I came out was when I moved to a university two hours away to my roommate. Later I was openly omnisexual, and it wasn’t hard because these people didn’t know me growing up or my family. Two years later, my sister also managed to get accepted in the same university and that was my biggest fear. She came and immediately she already heard about me and it wasn’t from me. She surfaced to my parents and they were super upset. They told me after university they want me to pick up my bags and live my own life. One more year of university left and haven’t talked to them since. (M/Omnisexual)
Story #1630
When I came out I decided to talk to a friend that I’ve trusted for a very long time. I told her I was bi, and me expecting her to be grossed out, she replied with “Awww, congrats.” The text went on to inspire me to come out to my parents and other friends, with surprisingly only one bad reaction down the road. She even set me up with my first boyfriend. I couldn’t be happier. (M/15/Bisexual)
