Story #1096

When I came out to my mom I wasn’t that nervous because I thought she wouldn’t care but she said I was too young to know (I’m 14). Then a week later we saw a movie and two girls kissed and she said, “The girl-kissing-girl thing grosses me out a bit,” then said, “Oh, but aren’t you gay?” Then she told my aunts and my brother, which was annoying, and is making me tell my sister even though I’m not ready. And she keeps trying to talk to me about it so now it’s really awkward between us.

Story #1094

When I came out, it was only a few weeks back (keep in mind I’m 15). I went up to my mom and with no hesitation or shame said, “Yo, mom… I’m bisexual.”

Yeah, I had to define bisexual. Mom just said, “I used to think you were gay… so this ain’t too big of a surprise.”

Story #1092

When I came out, my parents acted like it was nothing and sent me to a psychologist. Now my father thinks that I am lying to myself, but my mom completely accepts me. I am worried about what will come for me in the future (I am 14 years old).

Story #1093

When I came out as gay I called my emo/alternative girl friend after having a f everything moment. She was like, “No way!” because we used to sort of go out. She told her sister (who is bi) right there and that got me slightly mad because it broke trust, but coming out was such a good decision and after that I told two close friends, my parents, and one of my sisters. Now I just have to tell my other sister, my homophobic best friend, and my totally accepting best friend before I tell everyone.

Story #1090

When I came out to my brother (20 minutes ago) I sent him a snap that said I was a lesbian and he is cool with it and so supportive. Now on to my parents.

Story #1091

When I came out, I first told my best friend during lunch at school (I was 12). I wasn’t at all nervous because we had been friends for a really long time, and I was sure he would be supportive. He sat down, I said, “I’m a lesbian,” and he surprised me by telling me he was gay, too. Over time, almost all of our friends turned out to be LGBT+. I call us the Queer Team.

Story #1089

When I came out to my parents, they were really confused and disappointed at first and my mother said, “I failed as a parent.” They have both assured me that they still love me, but they really want me to see a Christian counselor right now.

Story #1088

When I came out (as a lesbian) first I told my boyfriend, who was shocked but oddly supportive. My pansexual best friend squealed in excitement at the idea of having another gay friend. And my mum said she already knew, although now it’s this kind of awkward unspoken thing.

Story #1087

When I came out pretty much all of my friends left me except one. I told my best friend I was gay (we had been friends for years) and he started bullying me soon after. It was a complete secret so naturally the entire school found out. My parents found out and frequently hit me and told me they were ashamed to have a gay son. I have survived two suicide attempts and regret both of them. I am now happily in love with my boyfriend, Jared.
